The descendants of Ellery G. and Jennie (Briggs) Allen come together the first Sunday of August to celebrate the sense of being part of a large family that traces its roots to the earliest days of American history.

The ancestors of Ellery G. Allen settled in Sandwich, MA about 1635.  In the mid 1700s some members of the family began to migrate - first to Rhode Island, then to East Adams, MA, then to Saratoga County, NY; then to Fulton Co., NY; and then to the Macedon/Farmington area of New York.  From Macedon/Farmington the family has continued to spread out across the globe.

George Smith and Sally (Bowen) Allen brought their family of four children - Lydia Jane, Phoebe, Lewis F. and Ellery G. - to Macedon/Farmington area in 1848.  Traveling on the Erie Canal, the George S. Allen family arrived in Wayneport, NY on May 9, 1848.  In July of that year they moved onto the family homestead, located on what is now known as Allen-Padgham Road, the property straddling the border of the towns of Macedon and Farmington.

Ellery G. and Jennie Allen raised their family of six children at the Allen homestead.  The farm passed into the hands of their son Lewis F. Allen, who in turn raised his family there.  The next owner was Nelson Allen, son of Lewis.  The present owner of the homestead is William Allen, son of Nelson.

This family tree is by no means complete, but it is an attempt to connect all the descendents of Ellery G. and Jennie (Briggs) Allen.
